Dr. Raul Cuero, an agricultural research scientist and professor based in the Prairie View A&M University College of Agriculture and Human Sciences’ Cooperative Agricultural Research Center, was recently honored by the Texas A&M University System as an inventor during the 2008 Patent and Innovation Awards. Cuero was honored for his work that uses Martian simulant soil, like volcanic ash, to remove hazardous waste from soil.

On Nov. 16, 2006, the House Democratic Caucus unanimously elected Congressman Clyburn of South Carolina Majority Whip for the 110th Congress. Capital Health Plan (CHP) announced it will invest over the next five years a total of $1.5 million in nursing education programs at Florida A&M University, Florida State University, and Tallahassee Community College. The initiative is aimed at alleviating a growing nursing shortage in this area and throughout Florida. Demand for new nurses in Florida is expected to grow by nearly one quarter or more than 36,000 new jobs by 2014.
