Some HBCUs responded within a few days of the earthquake, then others gave their support, then still others;
but the real story is that those who helped came back to give more help again and again and again ... :-)

Alcorn State University (MS) A host of responsiveness activities have occurred at Alcorn since the devastating earthquake. This week (January 25th through 28th) is Haiti week and Delta Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has campus-wide collaborative efforts planned with all proceeds going directly to Haiti for relief efforts.
   
Bishop State Community College, Main Campus (AL) Bishop State Community College raised $1,252.20 for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Efforts. Bishop State also is working to raise 1,000 cases of bottled water for Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society's "Water 4 Haiti" project.
   
Clark Atlanta University (GA) In response to Haiti’s devastating human crisis, the result of a Jan. 12 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks on Jan. 20 and 22, Clark Atlanta University is heightening support for relief initiatives already underway. To ensure an appropriately coordinated measure of support that meets immediate and long-term needs, and is undergirded by necessary internal controls, the following measures are being exacted to expedite our participation and, more important, our assistance to the People of Haiti.
   
Coppin State University (MD) Baltimore area college students and supporters gathered in front of Coppin’s New Dining and Meeting Hall in honor of Haiti on January 21 from 7-10 p.m. Steppers from local Black Greek Letter organizations performed in a Block Show that broadcasted live on 92Q radio. Members of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Incorporated—the organization that initiated the event—passed around an orange American Red Cross Bucket for donations. All proceeds from the Block Show went directly to the American Red Cross for the Haiti Relief Fund.
   
Delaware State University (DE) In the tragic wake of the massive January 12 earthquake in Haiti that has claimed the lives of thousands and left many others hungry and homeless, Delaware State University is coordinating several efforts to contribute to the ongoing worldwide relief effort. Student Affairs has organized the Heart for Haiti committee, with representation from the Office of Student Leadership & Activities, student leaders and student health staff.
   
Dillard University (LA) "Our campus community has been mobilized to prepare an urgent response to aid Haiti in its state of crisis. It is reported that the sense of urgency is increasing. It is crucial that we make visible efforts to provide immediate support to Haiti in a similar manner in which the world reached out to Dillard University during Hurricane Katrina. Edward Waters College (FL) EWC is partnering with a local agency to deliver clothing, non-perishables, and monetary gifts to Haiti. The information and receiving table is located in the George Collins Building on the College campus. Members of the community are invited to participate in this endeavor.
   
Florida A&M University (FL) Florida A&M University (FAMU) President James H. Ammons has formed a Haiti Relief Planning Committee to coordinate the university’s effort to provide assistance to Haiti and to FAMU students, faculty and staff whose families were impacted by the disasters. 
   
Harris-Stowe State University (MO) After the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti last month, Harris-Stowe State University, almost immediately, collected donations from its faculty and staff, raising $6,200 for the American Red Cross’ Haitian relief efforts.
   
Howard University (DC) The Howard University community has responded to the January 13th letter from its President, Sidney A. Ribeau, in which he urged "all in our community to reach out and support in whatever way possible." It has organized a series of events and activities designed to raise funds and other resources for the victims of the devastating earthquake and their families
   
Morehouse College (GA) In a quick Morehouse community response, the leaders of the Morehouse College Haitian Relief Effort, which was initiated by President Robert M. Franklin '75 Tuesday evening, are asking students, faculty, staff and alumni to donate items such as non-perishables, food items, hygiene products, toiletries, towels, pain medications and clothing
   
Morehouse School of Medicine (GA) In response to the devastating situation in Haiti and because of the close ties between Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) and Haiti, MSM has established a fund to help provide aid to the people of Haiti. Donations to the MSM Haiti Relief Fund will be sent to Atlanta-based CARE, which is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty.
   
North Carolina A&T State University (NC) Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 20, the university will collect donated items that will include clothing (summer wear, including shoes and flip flops), canned food, bottled water and nonperishable personal items
   
Oakwood University (AL)

Oakwood University will (1) Donate $10,000 to a disaster relief project in Haiti (OU is working with the Inter-American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to facilitate the funds reaching the targeted area of need) (2) Assist OU students with Haitian citizenship to ensure that their educational journey is not interrupted by this devastating incident. (3) Continue to encourage faculty, staff, and students to give of their time, energy, and resources to assist in any way possible.

   
Prairie View A&M University (TX) Prairie View is encouraging its community to make donations to Haitian relief funds and to become volunteers in programs designed to assist the victims of the earthquake and their families.
   
Spelman College (GA) Spelman College is encouraging its community to make donations to Haitian relief funds and to become volunteers in programs designed to assist the victims of the earthquake and their families.
   
Texas Southern University (TX) Texas Southern University has released an exciting line up of events to celebrate in observance of Black History Month. TSU’s list includes everything from forums and seminars to job testing and entertainment.
   
University of the District of Columbia (DC) The UDC Task Force on the Haitian Earthquake Disaster has been charged by the President and Provost to identify a course of action that UDC can undertake in solidarity and response in support of the Haitian People. To date the Task Force has developed an extensive list of recommended initiatives.
   
Winston-Salem State University (NC)

Winston-Salem State students have joined others from colleges and universities across the country seeking ways to help the victims of the earthquake that hit the island nation of Haiti on January 12. Rams Helping Others Prosper Everyday (H.O.P.E.) was conceived prior to the earthquake and has now moved into action.  Rams HOPE is asking that students, faculty and staff send monetary donations to the American Red Cross: International Response Fund.  Rams HOPE is also requesting donations of medical supplies and food and that can be dropped off at the Student Government Association office

   
Xavier University of Louisiana (LA) The Xavier community has organized payroll deductions, food drives, Tee shirt sales, blood drives, church services, and other activities designed to raise funds and other resources for the earthquake victims and their families.
