IV. Recommendations and Follow-Up Activities
 

A. Recommendations

  • HBCUs should form strategic partnerships with for-profit institutions of higher learning for purposes of distance learning.

  • As part of the partnership agreements, the for-profit partners should provide HBCUs with technical assistance in converting HBCU courses into distance learning formats.


B. Follow-up Activities

  • HBCUs interested in forming partnerships with for-profit institutions are strongly urged to contact appropriate representatives of the for-profit institutions that expressed affirmative interest in such relationships in Table D

  • The DLL will attempt to contact the chief academic officers of all HBCUs by email in order to call their attention to this report. The DLL will host a workshop in late July to which it will invite representatives of interested HBCUs and representatives of interested for-profit institutions. Workshop participants will be encouraged to share their current distance learning strategies and course offerings. Hopefully, this sharing will help them to identify partnership opportunities that are mutually beneficial.
